About me

Hello! My name is Jan Ruzicka and I am international relations and global health expert. I spent last decade in the Czech Civil Service, first as Private Secretary to the Minister of Culture and then as Chief of Staff and Director-General at the Ministry of Health. I have the honor to collaborate with WHO, OECD and Red Cross and successfully negotiate multiple treaties with European, African and Asian countries not only in healthcare but also in business, CSR and import-export areas. I coordinated MEDEVAC project (Czech national medical assistance program for people in need from the conflict areas and poor countries) and participated “on the ground” on multiple missions to Libya, Jordan, Myanmar and Ukraine.

Since 2013 I also serves as a vice president of China Investment Forum, an officially recognized public-private platform between China and 16 CEE countries.

I run health related projects, such as opening the first Traditional Chinese Medicine teaching clinic in the Czech Republic, creating air ambulance service (HEMS) in Shanghai or collaboration on health reforms and global health projects in vaccination and epidemiology. I  also serve as an advisor to the Chinese Hospital Association and member of the executive committee of the CEE – China Hospital Network.

In 2016 I co-founded artificial intelligence company Aequa Company (www.aequasci.com) at University of Cambridge to help with the fight against Alzheimer`s disease, diabetes and other long term diseases. I am also active in non-profit sector, where I have established health foundation NAHLAS! (www.nahlas.org) helping patients suffering from depression and anxiety.

I studied at Judge Business School and Downing College, University of Cambridge. Before my studies in England, I graduated from Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague.

Here, on this site, I would like to write about my healthcare adventures in Prague, China, Cambridge and elsewhere.
